kkdecara just think of it as a hashmap, where the key is the byte and the value is the letter. so for example, [E0]="B". if you then load it into a hex editor alongside the rom, you're able to cross-reference the game's text and the text in the rom. much to my surprise while working on growlanser 1, I randomly loaded it into lang4sat and was able to start changing text immediately.
